Gisto Terms of Service

1. Purpose and acceptance

These Terms govern your use of the mobile application "Gisto" (the "Service") provided by LGTM ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

2. The Service

Gisto is a personal "save now, read later" reading tool. You share or save a URL from another app or browser; Gisto fetches the article and generates AI summaries shown as swipeable/scrollable cards, organized by AI-classified topic, with favorites and archive. After a free trial, Gisto requires a paid subscription (see Section 12); a daily save quota (10/day) applies on all plans. Video links (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, etc.) are not processed.

3. Account and eligibility

• You sign up and sign in using Apple (Sign in with Apple) or Google.
• The Service is not intended for anyone under 14 (Korea) or under 13 (United States). Please do not use it if you are below that age.
• You are responsible for keeping your account information accurate and for activity under your account.

4. Third-party content and AI summaries

• Article body text and metadata shown in the Service are fetched from third-party websites; we do not warrant their accuracy, completeness, or legality.
• Summaries are generated automatically by AI (large language models) and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading. Do not rely on a summary for decisions; consult the original source. Summaries are not legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice.
• To extract and summarize content, the extracted article body text is transmitted to external providers (Jina, W&B Inference (US, hosting the DeepSeek model), Google, and others). See the Privacy Policy for details and for the international-transfer consent.

5. Intellectual property and your responsibility

• Copyright and other IP in fetched source content belongs to the respective rightsholders.
• The Service stores and displays copies of content you save solely for your own personal reading; such copies are not shared with other users or made into a public corpus.
• You represent that the links/content you save do not violate any law or the terms of the source site, and that you have the lawful right to save and use them for personal purposes. You are responsible for the legality of content you save.
• We honor valid takedown requests from rightsholders and will remove content or take other appropriate action. Send requests to gist.admin@lgtm.co.kr.

6. Acceptable use

You must not:

• save or use content that infringes others' rights or is unlawful;
• disrupt the Service, or perform unauthorized automation, crawling, or bulk requests;
• circumvent the save quota or technical limits, or gain unauthorized access to systems;
• reverse engineer, copy without authorization, or commercially exploit the Service without permission.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all express and implied warranties, including uninterrupted operation, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. In particular, we do not warrant the accuracy of AI summaries or third-party content.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of or inability to use the Service, inaccuracies in AI summaries, third-party content, or data loss. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for our willful misconduct or gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer-protection law.

9. Termination and account deletion

• You may delete your account and associated data at any time using the in-app account deletion feature.
• On deletion, we destroy your personal information and saved content without undue delay, except where retention is required by law. See the Privacy Policy.
• If you breach these Terms or applicable law, we may restrict your use or terminate your account after notice (or with subsequent notice in urgent cases).

10. Changes to these Terms

We may amend these Terms within the bounds of applicable law, and will announce the effective date and changes in-app or on this page in advance. If you do not agree to the changes, you may stop using the Service and delete your account.

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms and your use of the Service are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, where the operator is established. Disputes are subject to the competent court under the Korean Civil Procedure Act, or to Suwon District Court (Anyang Branch) as the court of first instance. Nothing in these Terms deprives you, as a consumer, of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country or U.S. state of residence, which continue to apply.

These Terms were drafted in English. Any translated version is provided for convenience only; in case of any conflict or inconsistency, the English version controls.

12. Subscriptions, free trial, and auto-renewal

• Free trial: new users get a 7-day free trial with no payment method required up front. When it ends, an active subscription is required to keep using the Service.
• Plans: auto-renewing monthly and annual subscriptions. The price and billing period are shown at the point of purchase and on the App Store.
• Billing: payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. The subscription auto-renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your account is charged for renewal within that window.
• Manage / cancel: anytime in your App Store account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
• Payments & refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store terms; we do not separately process payments or issue refunds. Purchases are processed via Apple and our billing provider, RevenueCat (see the Privacy Policy).
• We may change prices or plans prospectively, announced in advance; changes do not affect the period you have already paid for.
